Lista de artistas de Documenta 13

With the kickoff of the once-every-five-years Documenta exhibition just a few weeks away, the German paper Süddeutsche Zeitung has published the current list of artists included in the exhibition. (Thank you to Frieze d/e’s Twitter account for bringing this to our attention.)

Documenta 13′s website—which is really quite difficult to navigate, but nevermind—includes “an evolving list” of participants, including artists as well as various intellectuals who are taking part in the festivities, from agroscientists and anthropologists to poets and zoologists. It promises the complete lineup on June 6. (The exhibition, whose artistic director is Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, runs June 9 through Sept. 16, in Kassel, Germany.) Update, 1:30 p.m.: We’ll publish the complete and finalized list when it is confirmed on June 6.

So yes, it is nice to see the confirmed artists in one place. As the paper notes, it has a fairly strong number of female and American artists. Among the artists making the cut are Carol Bove, Abraham Cruzvillegas, Tacita Dean, Trisha Donnelly, Adriana Lara, Rosemarie Trockel and Adrián Villar Rojas. There are a few surprises too, like Salvador Dalí and Man Ray.

One more unusual inclusion is hiding at the bottom of the list (thanks again to Frieze d/e for nothing this): “Destroyed objects damaged during Lebanese War.”
